Varkala is a city in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is located on the Arabian Sea and is famous for its Varkala beach, supported by red cliffs. South of Papanasam Beach, it is believed to have sacred waters. On a nearby hill, the ancient Janardanaswamy Temple is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Vishnu. Further inland, the Sivagiri Mutt monument commemorates the general rebirth of Sree Narayana Guru, who is buried here in Varkala, a quiet and peaceful place on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district. It has its tourist attractions, including the beautiful beach, the 2000-year-old Vishnu temple, and the Ashramam - Sivagiri Mutt, which is quite a long distance from the beach.
